Canada Immigration Processing Fee soar from April 30 2020

Citizenship and Immigration Canada has decided to increase the processing fee for permanent residency application with effect from April 30^th, 2020 at 9 a.m. EDT for overseas applicants wishing to permanently migrate to Canada.

The fee paid by individuals applying for Canada immigration will cover the cost of operational, processing, and service delivery costs for all permanent residency programs.

All applications received before April 30, 2020 will be processed in accordance to the current fee structure. However, any application received after the date the implementation without including the raised processing fee will be considered incomplete, hence will be returned to the applicant.

With the increase of the Canada PR process fee, prospective applicants under economic class must now pay the fee as per the following order:

• Primary applicant under the Economic business class, including self-employed, start-up visa, Quebec investor, Quebec entrepreneur, and Quebec self-employed will be raised from $1,050 to $1,575;
• Fee for primary applicants under the skilled economic class is likely to increase from $550 to $825. The raised fee is not applicable for the principal applicants and their family members applying under the Caregiver program.
• Fees for spouses or common-law partners of all economic classes will increase from $550 to $825;
• Fees for dependent children of all economic classes will move up from $150 to $225;
• The Canada PR fees charged for the right of permanent resident fee will increase from $490 to $500.

Processing fee is expected to increase in two years starting in 2022-2023, the processing fee for the permanent residency application will likely to increase in every two years based on the applicable Consumer Price Index (CPI), which is rounded to the nearest $5.
