Importance of Score for Canada PR visa

All Canada PR Visa economic categories work on a points based system even as Express Entry, Quebec immigration system, and the Provincial Nominee Programmes (PNPs) are the three main immigration systems that facilitate the entry of the ‘best and the brightest’ from across the globe.

Eligibility Score

Under the Canada immigration Process, for becoming eligible through the Express Entry system, you require getting not less than 67 points on certain pre-defined parameters, including age, educational qualifications, work experience and language skills, etc.

Now the question that sometimes surfaces is – How to obtain and score the relevant points for PR Visa?

  1. To begin with, focus on all key factors factored in for assigning points, namely, age, educational qualifications, work experience, and language skills, etc.
  2. Arrange your relevant documents involving these and run a self-review using any of the freely available online self-appraisal tools, called CRS Calculator, that you come across on the web.
  3. Draft professional Canada immigration consultants if you are unable to figure out your score.

You will perhaps learn that you can improve your chances of finding acceptance, if you focus on having an arranged employment or relatives in Canada and your language score earned through the IELTS.

Talking of the language skills, improve, in advance, these on all 4 modules–reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Try to get IELTS 7.5 bands to have an edge and boost your chances.

CRS Score

Ensure that your profile fetches high Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score to get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

If your CRS total is less than 400 you, think of the state PNP programmes, as competition is comparatively less there, vis-à-vis the federal immigration programmes, namely, Federal Skilled Workers Programme (FSWP), Federal Trades Workers Programme (FTWP), and Canadian Experience Class (CRC). If your score is between 400 and 420, continue to focus on the federal programmes but then make an effort to make your score better to successfully get an ITA.

In case your score is between 421 and 440, you could be in the unsafe region; you will get an ITA, but one can’t say with 100% certainly when that will happen. Perhaps, within 2-3 months, if you are lucky. And, if your score is more than 440, it’s time to uncork the champagne bottle! You are in a safe zone. You’ll get ITA in the following Express Entry rounds.
