Breaking News!! To continue the fight against Covid-19, the UK government has announced a 1-year free extension for Work Permit Holders, especially the foreign doctors and nurses from India. The extension is available for those professionals whose work permits are about to expire before March 31, 2021. The UK is expected to continue supporting the Healthcare and front-line Workers during this pandemic.

What are the new announcements?

• UK Home Secretary Priti Patel recognizes the contribution of foreign healthcare professionals in fighting the Coronavirus and its impact
• More than 6,000 Healthcare Workers will receive fee-free Visa extensions for those whose work permits are due to expire by March 31, 2021.
• These professionals include nurses, doctors, paramedics, occupational therapists, psychologists, midwives, and other health professionals.
• The extension of work visas for health professionals will be charge-free, including the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS).
• Healthcare professionals working with National Health Service (NHS) and other independent health care sectors can also avail of this provision.
• To receive your extension, you need to fill an online form confirmed by your employers for eligibility.

What are the other benefits?

• There is a new fast-track Health and Care visa approved by the UK Govt, which can be availed by eligible healthcare professionals and their dependents.
• The visa is granted for a maximum of 5 years and 14 days or the sponsorship’s time duration, whichever is shorter.
• The process is effortless, affordable, and quicker for global healthcare professionals.
• The UK government has also come up with the Bereavement Scheme for the families of healthcare professionals in the UK.
• This particular scheme grants UK permanent residency to the Healthcare Professional’s family, who unfortunately died due to the Coronavirus.
• The scheme is also granted to all the NHS, health, and social care workers.
