  • Be sponsored/nominated by an Australia state or territory.
  • Pass the points-test

 

Investment visa options in Australia

Business Innovation Visa (Sub-class 188)

The Australia subclass 188 visa is aimed at high net worth and experienced business owners who have the skills, funds, and expertise to boost the Australian economy.  The visa is issued for four years and if you succeed in establishing a flourishing business, you can apply for permanent residency in Australia after four years.

There are four sub-categories in Business Innovation Visa (Sub-class 188):

Business Innovation Stream

  • Be willing to invest 500,000 – 800,000 AUD and operate a business a new or existing business in Australia
  • must have 3 years of business experience and operate a business with 500,000 AUD turnover;
  • Must clear the points-test with at least 65 points.

 

Investor Stream

  • Requires you to invest:
    • AUD2.5 million that meets certain requirements if you were invited to apply on or after 1 July 2021
    • AUD1.5 million in an Australian State or Territory if you were invited to apply before 1 July 2021
  • Be nominated by a State or Territory government agency to invest.
  • Clear the points-test

 

Significant Investor Visa Stream

  • Have at least 5 million AUD as an investment that comply with the 188 visa Australia requirements.
  • be invited to apply for this visa
  • be nominated by a State or Territory government agency
  • Be able actively carry out business activities in Australia.

 

Entrepreneur Stream

Designed for startup and early stage entrepreneurs who have been endorsed and supported by designated Australian authorities to launch their business ideas.

  • This is a state-nominated 5-year provisional entrepreneur visa.
  • You must be under 55 years of age.
  • You must have at least Competent English.
  • You must submit evidence of adequate funding secured from a funding provider in Australia.

 

Business Talent Visa (Subclass 132)

The Business Talent Visa (Subclass 132) is another business visa that leads to permanent residency in Australia. The route is designed for established business owners who want to set up a new or buy an existing business in Australia. Additionally, they must have at least 1.5 million AUD to invest in a new or existing business.

There are two sub-categories available under the Subclass 132 visa:

Significant Business History

This category is designed for highly experienced business owners who wish to undertake significant business activity providing either, employment, exports or high level investment. The business performance of subclass 132 visa holders are reviewed by the Department of Home Affairs after two years.

Venture Capital Entrepreneur Stream

For individuals who have secured at least AUD$1,000,000 in agreed funding from an Australian venture capital firm, which is also an AVCAL member to develop and support an innovative business idea.
