Planning for a Trip to Switzerland? Important Schengen Visa Updates Indians Need to Know Before Their Next Trip

Planning a Swiss trip? Read this before you start packing.

Sometimes, the hardest part of a trip is not the packing; it’s the paperwork. And if your next holiday includes Switzerland, there’s news you can’t afford to miss. The Swiss embassy’s partner, VFS Global, has updated its rules — and they’re serious about it. If you miss even one requirement, your application could stop before it even starts. This is where expert visa consultants in Delhi can save you a lot of time and trouble.

What’s New in the Schengen Visa Process

VFS Global has clearly stated: only documents listed in the official checklist for your visa category will be accepted at the Visa Application Centre. No extras. No appeals. No “just in case” papers.

Here’s what makes the cut:

  • Valid Passport – Issued within the last 10 years, valid for at least 3 months after your return, and with at least two blank pages. No handwritten passports, and no passports with observations on the bio-data page.
  • Photograph – White background, taken within the last 6 months, 35–40 mm in width. Must be pasted on the form — no staples or pins.
  • Visa Application Form – Signed by you. If you’re a minor, a parent or legal guardian must sign it. Additional documents like custody papers or death certificates apply if relevant.
  • Introduction Letter – On company letterhead, signed and stamped by HR or directorate. Must include your position, duration of service, no-objection statement, trip purpose, and dates.
  • Travel Insurance – From the approved list, covering at least €30,000 (around ₹30.36 lakh). Should include medical emergencies and repatriation. Only the first trip needs to be covered if applying for a multiple-entry visa.
  • Flight Reservation – Include names of all travellers. Also show proof for intra-Schengen travel if applicable.
  • Accommodation Proof – Hotel bookings, package confirmations, or payment receipts.

A Few More Details Worth Noting

  • Bank statements? Only the first three and last three pages are needed. Anything more is a waste of printer ink.
  • Forget “extra” documents — they won’t be accepted.
  • Switzerland still remains one of the most sought-after European destinations, so expect appointments to fill up fast.

If this checklist feels like a lot to process, remember that the best visa consultants in India deal with these rules every day. They know how to get it right the first time, so you don’t lose weeks to corrections.

Wrapping Up – And Why the Right Guidance Matters

Visa rules can feel like a moving target. One small miss can send you back to the start. That’s why it’s worth having professionals who track every update — whether it’s Schengen, student, or work applications. This applies to other destinations too, so if you’re eyeing the UK next, working with experienced UK visa consultants can make the process stress-free.

VisaExperts has decades of experience helping travellers, students, and professionals meet every requirement with confidence. From checking your documents to guiding you through embassy rules, we’re the extra layer of certainty your travel plans deserve.

So, before you book that Swiss mountain view, make sure your paperwork is as ready as your passport.
