What Happens If My Permanent Resident Card for Australia Expires?

People who are granted permanent residency visas for Australia also get a valid travel facility for five years. With an Australian PR visa, you can stay in Australia without any restrictions and even travel in and out of the country for five years. However, if you want to visit after the validity period is over, you must apply for a Resident Return Visa (Subclass 155 or 157). You can also apply for an Australian citizenship.

Australia Permanent Residency Renewal Requirements

To apply for the Resident Return Visa (RRV), you must fulfil the below-mentioned requirements:

  • The applicant must be a holder of Australian permanent residency visa
  • You should be a former Australian permanent resident whose last permanent visa was not cancelled
  • A former Australian citizen who lost or renounced their citizenship.
  • You should meet the health and character requirements.
  • You must be a passport holder.
