What is the process for obtaining a job seeker visa for Sweden?

If you want to relocate abroad, Sweden welcomes you with open arms with a Sweden job seeker visa pathway. With this visa, you can enter Sweden, stay there for three to six months, and seek job opportunities corresponding to your skills, education, and domain. However, you can’t include your family members on the visa application.

What is a Sweden job seeker visa?

The Sweden job seeker visa is a temporary residency permit allowing non-EU nationals to enter Sweden for three to nine months while looking for a job opportunity. The visa is designed for individuals with skills currently in demand in Sweden but still need a valid job offer. The job seeker visa does not allow you to work in Sweden but can only be used to seek a job opportunity or explore the possibility of establishing your business.

Once you find a suitable job opportunity, you can apply for a work permit to start legally working in Sweden.

Eligibility requirements for Sweden job seeker visa

To qualify for a Sweden job seeker visa, you must:

  • Have at least a Bachelor’s, Master’s or an equivalent degree from a recognized university.
  • Demonstrate genuine intentions to look for a job in Sweden.
  • Demonstrate sufficient funds to manage your expenses and support yourself initially in Sweden.
  • Have a comprehensive health insurance coverage.
  • Have a valid passport.
  • Be outside of Sweden at the time of application.
  • Enclose a letter of consent allowing the Swedish Council for Higher Education to contact educational institutions in your home country for credential verification.

 

The process of applying for a Sweden job seeker visa for Indian

Step 1- Check eligibility- Start the process by determining the eligibility criteria by having the right skills and qualifications needed for the visa.

Step 2- Fill the application form- Download the application form (Form 265511) known as “Residence permit for highly qualified persons’ on the Sweden immigration website.

Step 3- Gather all required documents- Familiarize yourself with the document checklist to know which document you need for the process. Make sure you have all of them, including the letter of consent.

Step 4- Submit your application-Visit the nearest Swedish Embassy or Consulate in your home country to submit all visa-related documents.

Step 5- Pay the application fee- Applying at an embassy or consulate will require you to pay a fee at the time of application submission.

Step 6- Wait for a decision- Once all the documents are submitted, the Swedish Migration Agency will assess your documents and give a decision based on the information submitted. If approved, you will be issued a visa for three to nine months.

Proof of Funds required for Sweden Job Seeker visa

You must have access to at least SEK 13,000 for each month of your intended stay in Sweden.
