If you plan to settle in Australia permanently, here’s a golden opportunity for you. New South Wales is open for application submission under Skilled Worker Regional (Provisional) visa subclass 491. Eligible skilled workers and international students may submit their interest until January 31, 2022. The next window will open in March 2022.

Candidates who fail to meet the criteria mentioned above might face refusal unless they agree with the NSW treasury.

The subclass 491 visa permits skilled migrants to live, work and study in Regional NSW for five years. Additionally, they will enjoy the freedom to travel to and from Australia with no limitations. The subclass 491 visa also leads to Australia permanent residency to the applicant and their immediate family members.

The fee for this visa starts from $4,115, and the processing time varies from 10 to 13 months.

What is a closely related occupation?

As per the Department of Home Affairs, a closely related occupation falls within the same group of occupations classified under ANZCO. All occupations are grouped under ANZSCO to form unit groups. These unit groups are denoted by four-digit codes determining one skill level.

For example, if you apply as an accountant, your ANZCO code will be 221111. You will not be able to apply for a chef (ANZCO- 351311) because the first four digits of the code are different from the accountants. However, you can use for a Taxation Accountant (ANCO Code 221113) because the same four digits indicate that both occupations fall under the common group.

What is the Nomination Process?

All prospective applicants under the Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491) must receive an invitation from the state government. To be nominated by NSW, you must:

  • Fulfill the Skilled Worker Regional Visa (Subclass 491) visa eligibility requirements.
  • Submit an Expression of Interest in the Skill Select system for your nominated occupation in the preferred NSW region.
  • Submit an ROI during a submission window
  • Be invited to apply for the visa
  • Apply to the RDA office in your preferred region, where your skills are required within 14 days of receiving the invitation.
  • Provide evidence with your application for all claims in your NSW ROI and Skill Select EOI

How do I register my interest in the NSW nomination?

As per the new process, nomination for the subclass 491 visa is by invite only. The submission windows for the current financial year are August, October, January, and March. Please note that the government of New South Wales will only invite limited applicants and prioritize those currently living and working in the NSW region.

You can submit the ROI by completing an online form during a ‘submission window.’ You only have one chance to register your interest in NSW nomination, i.e., one ROI per person. This includes where you are skilled in more than one occupation.

You must also indicate your preferred region in NSW.

NSW will invite candidates to an RDA office during the submission window and within seven days before the submission window closes.

We hope the above information will help you in the registration process and make your journey to Australia a seamless experience. To know more information, you can connect with us on 8595338595 or drop an email at [email protected].
